Climb the three highest peaks in Britain and cycle 500 miles between them…in under 46.5 hours...
The Route
Fort William – Ben Nevis – Scafell Pike – Snowdon – Caernarfon The challenge will begin at Fort William on the banks of Loch Eil, and finish when we touch the sea at Caernarfon in Wales. The distance run/walked/crawled is estimated at 25 miles (40 km) with a total ascent of 9800 feet (3000m) and a total distance cycled 500 miles (804 km). In total, a gruelling 525 miles - almost the equivalent of London to Aberdeen!! Statistics The Three Peaks (up and down again): Ben Nevis 10.5 miles (17km): ascent 4409 ft (1344m) Scafell Pike 6 miles (8km): ascent 3209 ft (978m) Snowdon 7 miles (11km): ascent 3560 ft (1085m) Cycle Route: Fort William to Ben Nevis 5 miles (6.4km) Ben Nevis to Seathwaite 257 miles (413km) Seathwaite to Pen-Y-Pass 223 miles (359km) Pen-Y-Pass to Caernarfon 15 miles (20km) New world record (unofficially!) The current record of 46.5 hours was set in 2008 by a trio of men (info). The timer starts at the base of Ben Nevis and stops once they have descended to the base of Snowdon. It is an unofficial world record, not recognised by Guinness World Records. |
